Sauk County is located in Southern Wisconsin. The population is 61,976 and there are currently approximately 25,000 households in the county. The cities include: Baraboo, Hillpoint, La Valle, Lake Delton, Lime Ridge, Loganville, Merrimac, North Freedom, Plain, Prairie Du Sac, Reedsburg, Rock Springs, Sauk City and Spring Green. Reason #1: Small Town Community


With city populations ranging from 837 up to 19,881, all the cities in the county give you that small town feel, because that’s what they are! Though these cities are small, they are mighty! Here you’ll feel welcome and safe. These cities don’t lack character and there’s definitely plenty to do!


Reason #2: Location


Right within the county you will find Devil’s Lake, Wisconsin’s most visited state park! To the west you’ll find Madison WI. Depending on which Sauk County city you reside, you can find anywhere from a 25-70 minute drive to Madison. The perfect distance for those who want to work or play in the city but live outside the hustle and bustle. To the north you’ll find Wisconsin Dells. Depending on your location within the county, take a 10-60 minute drive and you’ll find yourself in the Dells. A great place to shop and play. Other locations close include La Crosse WI at 2 hours and Chicago IL at 3.5 hours away.


Reason #3: Outdoor Activities and Trails


With over 10 parks and 49 streams, river sand creeks, there are lots of opportunities for outdoor activities! You can hunt, fish, hike, swim, kayak and more! Sauk County is home to the Great Sauk State Trail-a 13 mile multi-use trail connecting the Sauk Prairie community to Devil's Lake State Park. There are many other hiking trails, most of which include treks to viewpoints and lakesides. There are horse trails, skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing trails throughout the county as well.
